XP reboots from a bugcheck

Hi All

Thanks for taking the time to look at this and helping me.

whenever I ply any game, a cd or DVD, an mpeg etc my pc reboots it's
self. I get the following bugcheck
The computer has rebooted from a bugcheck. The bugcheck was:
0x1000007f (0x00000008, 0x80042000, 0x00000000, 0x00000000). A dump was
saved in: C:\WINDOWS\Minidump\Mini111706-04.dmp.

I have ran Memtest86 for over 10 hours on each 512mb stick I have and
all is fine. I have re-installed XP pro and still this happens.

Here's my spec
Abit AW8 motherborad
Intel pentium D 3.2Ghz
1gb Ram (corsair Value Select 5400)
XFX geforce 7600 xxx
250 gb Hard drive
O/S= Xp Pro, service pack 2 fully patched.

Does anyone have any Ideas?

This won't fix your problem, but it'll keep your machine from rebooting.

Unless the rebooting is caused by a hardware problem.

It may also help reading a BSOD. Blue Screen Of Death.

Choosing recovery actions if Windows stops unexpectedly

Right click My Computer | Properties | Advanced tab |
Click the Settings button under Startup and Recovery |
Under System Failure | UNCheck: Automatically restart |
Click OK | Click Apply | Click OK

Automatically restart
[[Specifies whether Windows will automatically reboot whenever the system
stops unexpectedly.
You must be logged on as a member of the Administrators group to set
recovery options.]]

The name for your error is UNEXPECTED_KERNEL_MODE_TRAP

The first parameter value indicates that this is a Double fault error.

The following is an excerpt from

"A double fault occurs when an exception occurs while trying to call
the handler for a prior exception. Normally, the two exceptions can be
handled serially, however there are several exceptions that cannot be
handled serially and in this situation the processor signals a double
fault. The two primary causes for this are hardware and kernel stack
overflows. Hardware problems are usually related to CPU, RAM, or bus.
Kernel stack overflows are almost always caused by faulty kernel-mode
drivers. "
