Hi,

On an XP Dell machine, as of yesterday, the security update
KB923980 is available.

Installing it (and again) does not stop the computer to offer it
again and again. Re-booting does not change the picture.

Any advice?

Thanks,
Uzi

Sensible suggestion by Mow Green.

To everyone who has pitched in on this thread ... hang in there, I'm
attempting to get someone from MS to check out this thread -

Subject : KB 923980 wants to be installed ever and ever again ?
Date : 11/15
Author : Crazy-Chris

For now I'd suggest uninstalling the update from Add/Remove Programs in
the Control Panel.
When the update is offered to be installed again, uncheck the box next
to it and click OK, then put a check in the box next to " Do not notify
me ... "

In order to see the above dialogue Automatic Updates should be set to
either " Download the updates ... let me choose when to install them "
or " Notify me but don't automatically download or install them "

Right click My Computer on the Desktop or Start Menu, choose Properties.
Click the Automatic Updates tab to access the options.

OR, one can access Windows Update or MS Update and hide the update there.

Hi Uzi
You should post here in this group re updates -

news://msnews.microsoft.com/microsoft.public.windowsupdate

There have already been posts re repeated offers of downloads.
You will see very little in the groups into which you crossposted.

Control Panel | Add or Remove Programs
Make sure Show Updates is checked.
Scroll down to find KB816093 and remove it. Then let it install again.
