I use outloook express as my newsreader - how can I open it? I have to go
to my browser (I don't use IE), enter in the address news:name.com and
outlook express starts. there has to be an easier way.

Thanks

A shortcut?
Target: "%ProgramFiles%\Outlook Express\msimn.exe" /outnews

One can also create group-specific shortcuts without
mentionning the news client to use. eg :
news:microsoft.public.windowsxp.basics
Or even create a bookmark to that 'adress' inside IE or any browser.

usually there is a link under Start and All Programs .
or using EXPLORER, browse to the OE folder and right click on OE and select send to desktop as shortcut and/or pin to start menu.

NO real need to play with manual shortcut creation.

//hi you could once you have a shortcut to your desk top as some one said ,
you could then right click on task bar/unlock task bar if it is locked / then
click properties/tick the show quick launch, that then enables you to drag the
icon to the task bar and let it go,when you see a black line you will be able
to move to quick launch the icon will be there, you can place many of your
most used sites and you only have to click once for the programme to open
/then lock task bar , as i explained earlier, plz let me know how you go on .
