my friend downloaded and installed my new puter and the
login screen is open to everyone who ever wishes to sit
in front of my puter .I have windows xp home and trying
to reset it so it prompts for password. I found user file
and it is checked limited on administraive file is that
the problem?? How can i check to see what was used as my
password when installed from the initial download of my
system?

Hi Lily,

Your operating system was not downloaded, it was installed. If your friend
applied a password to the system admin, ask what it was.

1. Go to Start/Run and type in: control userpasswords2 and press ok.

2. On the Users tab, check that Users Must Enter A User Name And Password To
Use This Computer check box and then click OK.

Add Control UserPasswords2 to the Control Panel (Line 1)

If that is done:

Start/Control Panel/Users/Change the Way users log on or off/Use Welcome
Screen and Use Fast User Switching.

Enable the Welcome Screen (Line 80)
