View Full Version : How to remove garbage Icon, Windows XP

After going to several websites shopping for Printer inks, an
icon that looks like a sheet of paper is now permanently on my screen. I
can click and drag it, but it has no right click menu and I can move it all
over the screen. When I drag it over the trash bin nothing happens. I've
rebooted and no change.

Where in XP do I go to get rig of this thing?

I could use your help.

TIA

I found the culprit. Last night I downloaded and installed a "free" add on
for Internet Explorer 7 a VMN toolbar. I disabled it and the Icon went
away. However, Explorer does not offer a choice to delete or remove it
only disable. I'd like to remove it entirely. Any suggestions?

Use system restore and use a time just before the add on was installed.

Did you look for it in Control Panel | Add or Remove Programs?

Never would have thought of that. Already got rid of it. See my response
below.

However, your suggestion looks like a good tool to have around if one tries
new stuff occasionally.

Thanks.
