connecting laptop to tv

[confused]

I have done everything to connect my laptop to my tv. I get the picture that
appears on my desktop, but not what is appearing on my laptop screen at the
moment. what am i doing wrong?

What kind of plug or prgram are you using? Is it a port that is built into
your computer?
