Hi

My newly purchased computer using xp has crashed.I hve
tried to re-install the xp operating system from the cd
provided. The installation is incomplete and the error
message is:
SXS .DLL: Syntex error in manifest or policy file "E:\1386
\asms\1000\MSFT\WINDOWS\GDIPLUS\GDIPLUS.MA" on line 4

Error:Installation failure: E:\1386\asms. error message
component file does not match verification information
present in the component manfest.

At times I also get a message asking to load the cd for
Home Installation Service Pack. The CD supplied with the
computer includes this service pack.

Please can you help.

I have tried to enter microsoft site for help but can not
get access to it because the site requires product
identification code which is only available through 'My
Computer' and at oresent un available.

Please help

Hmm..

1) New machine that crashed and burned.
2) Bad install media.

Take it back, get your money back and buy from a different vendor. There's
nothing we can do to help in this instance. Whoever sold you the machine is
responsible for the crash and providing you media that actually works. The
message you state you're receiving is one that is only received when some
one does a bad copy of the OS install media.
