This post puts you in solid contention for the Stupid
Question of the Month award for April. Two suggestions:
Try downloading the file telepathically, or just go
knocking on doors until you find someone with an internet
connection.

There is absolutely no reason to respond with such meanness. You don't know
the OP's age, educational background or what he was thinking. There is no
such thing as a stupid question. Have some empathy and compassion for other

Whoever said "There's no such thing as a stupid poster" never read
your post.
The question is quite valid, and I do hope someone with a higher IQ as
yours (let's say, 100), answers it.

Hi
It looks like the redistributable version hasn't been updated yet :-(, it's
still at 9.0.

Hi
Why (ok, he is swedish <evil grin>)? Of course he wants to download it from a
computer that has internet connection (friend, work, school...), burn it to a
CD and take the CD home. His problem is that it looks like there is no download
link for a redistributable version (full installation package) of 9.0a, only
for 9.0.

And you win the stupid answer for the month.
If you'd bothered to read properly, you'd have noticed that the post was
from Sweden.
English being his second language, the term "download" was incorrectly used
in place of "acquire"
Or would you rather reply to Thomas in Swedish and make a bigger ass of
yourself.

Thomas:
You may have a friend that could download it and burn it in CD for
you. Conversely, there are some computer magazines that are published
with CDs containing programs, DirectX 9 could be such a case, as it
is used for games. You may find it there.
Hope this helps

Most folks don't have a clue do they.
This post is going to persist.
Microsoft for some god only knows reason has made this directx download an
installation file. Perhaps they are tired of millions of people downloading
an application that none of them need.
When you download this file it's like an IE version update only different.
A small file is downloaded, the installer connects to the web and downloads
the rest of the files needed to install it. They are then deleted before
anyone has a chance to figure out how to save them. Unlike previous IE
upgrade files that save themselves to a root folder that one can move to a
disk this one don't.
IF YOU DON"T HAVE A WEB CONNECTION YOU CANNOT INSTALL IT.................
If you need it to install video card drivers your up the creek without a
paddle. Most new drivers will not install without it, new ATI drivers as
an example.
You can download new video card drivers and burn them to disk but you can't
do that with DirectX9.0a .
Hey original poster your welcome to come over to my house and plug into my
router and install them if you'd like it would only take a few minutes.
Don't mind these moron's such as Weinie Elsuck.
Microsoft give it up to other FTP sites if you don't want to take the hit.

That is the websetup version - when you run it, it then downloads more,
depending on what your OS is, etc. It is not the FULL redistributable set of
install files.
As noted already by others, there is a redistributable version at the
following link, but it appears to be version 9.0, not 9.0a (by the way, what
is the difference between 9.0 and 9.0a? - some bug fixes, I suspect?)
