Can somebody tell me how to turn font smoothing ON in XP?

1. Control Panel > Display
or - Right click Desktop > Properties
or - Start-Run-"desk.cpl ,2"
2. "Appearance" tab > "Effects" button
"Use the following method to smooth edges of screen fonts"
