Hello Folks.......I seek help and benevolence!!!!

I am running XP home and have recently upgraded to IE7 which sadly seems to
have brought many problems with it.
Since upgrading I have had a Smartbridge problem which I appear to have
solved with the help of Pattie Mcloud. TYVM again!
Also, I have began to experience many unresponsive websites for which
Microsoft are continually asking me to submit error reports. This I do.
Today however the situation has worsened in as much as when I have attempted
to visit sites in my favourites list I am finding them to be hijacked.
Currently my homepage is hijacked. Despite the tab at the top of the page
and Internet Options-General both showing the correct address
(www.mcfc.co.uk) the actual page that is displayed is Drugcategories.net.
URL http//jupk.com/?dn=drugcategories.net&pid=IPO1172SS . Similar pages are
shown in lieu of other sites.
My system is protected by Defender Beta2, Sygate Firewall, Spyware Blaster,
Spyware Guard, Blueyonder PC guard, Scotty and Spybot (which has been
updated and run with one programme removed. I have also run HijackThis and
remove a load of 017 stuff . Bazooka only shows and mouse and key board
program which I do not believe to br the problem.
I run Reg Mech on start up and I have restored to an earlier date, alas to
no avail.

Has anyone any ideas on how I should proceed.

Kind Regards......Sychman.

If in fact your browser has been hijacked this this probably won't work.
Go to add and remove programs and remove IE7. See if that solves your
problem. Your machine will revert back to IE6.

Since the OP definitely has malware, simply uninstalling IE7 as you
suggest will not solve his problem. His computer will still be
infected. He needs to clean it up.

To the OP:

Go through these general malware removal steps systematically -
http://www.elephantboycomputers.com/page2.html#Removing_Malware

Include scanning with either Sysclean or Multi_AV, plus Ewido. Do all
prep/finishing work and follow instructions to do all scans in Safe
Mode.

When all else fails, run HijackThis and post your log in one of the
specialty forums listed at the link above (not here, please).

If the procedures look too complex - and there is no shame in admitting
this isn't your cup of tea - take the machine to a professional
computer repair shop (not your local version of BigStoreUSA).

Just had this on a computer I was looking at, some how what ever
infected the computer changed the DNS setting of the network card!!!
just remove the ip addresses there and reset it to "Obtain DNS server
address automactilly" and all should be fine.

change DNS setting in network options to "Find DNS automatically" and you
have the solution

Good Morning Mik.

You are the second person to recommend this solution so I suppose that it
may well be right.
Would you be kind enough to direct me to Network Options.
I will be most grateful!

Regards.......Sychman.
