what file do i use

I'm just getting into dvd burning and i'm being given the option to choose
from 5 formats .avi ,.avi DV, .mpg, real and .wmv. I've done some
experimenting and I can see that the file size differs but I would like to
know when and why I should use them. thanks

I generally see the DV-AVI format
recommended for importing into DVD
authoring software. If file size is an
issue...I would suggest using .wmv.
