Is there a way to install an applition on XP, and only
make it accessible to specific users on the XP system,
rather than all users?
Thanks

Possibly. It largely depends upon which version of WinXP you're
using. WinXP Pro allows the sort of granular security control you'd
need, but WinXP Home doesn't.

Pssst.
Ever booted HE in safe mode and looked at the properties tab in explorer.
;-)
Or ever run cacls?
You'll be truly amazed and astounded at the granularity to which security
can be applied on HE. In fact, I can't see anything extra my Pro machines
have over my HE machines in that regard. 8-P

Thanks for the tip. I haven't properly explored the potential of
Safe Mode, obviously. ;-}

Bruce and Everyone;
If you don't want to bother with booting to safe mode to set
permissions, you can add a security tab to folder and file properties.
Go to
http://www.fajo.de/sware/files/xpfse/FJXPFileSecExt_0_2_Setup_EN.exe
and download this nice tool. I've installed it and had no problems with
it (unlike adding the NT security tab, which doesn't have all the
options that XP does).
The tab doesn't appear in exactly the same spot as XP puts it, but the
dialog box is identical.
