I am a total dummy at this. I have a Compaq Presario R3000. It says at the
disc drive DVD ReWritable. My friend who I bought the laptop off says the
laptop will only burn to + DVDs. I have tried this in my disc drive but when
i try and burn a video file it doesn't work, says please insert a blank CD. I
am using DVD+R by the way not DVD+RW. Don't know if that makes a difference.
Do I actually need a DVD burner? or is it supposed to work in your machine?

What software are you using to burn the DVD?

You are confusing me...are you
trying to burn a CD or a DVD?

Windows Media Player 10 can burn
an audio CD.

If you have the full version of Nero...
look for NeroVision Express and it
should burn Video CDs and/or Video
DVDs that will play in a stand alone
DVD player.

Some info:

The following info is for NeroVision Express
2 but I suspect the info could still be useful:

OK..you need a DVD-RW burner, a
compatible blank DVD and software
that's compatible with your video clips.

What is the format of your video clips?
..wmv? .avi?

Be aware that some stand alone DVD
players will not play a home made DVD.

The info I posted for you about NeroVision
Express should get you going.

You originally stated that you had
a drive labeled: "DVD ReWritable":
That is a DVD burner and should
work for you.

Maybe a different brand or type of
media would work better.

Maybe you have hardware issues.
