trying to burn dvd on dvd+r also it will not play on windows media

downloading movies and trying to watch them on windows media player and it
will not play also trying to burn dvd from files and windows but again
nothing happens i manage to burn cds from media player but will not open dvd
movies sp we can watch and burn them tried everything the files are rar files
and we have downloaded winrar files but still will not open on windows media
player 11 our computer is a dvd rw a bit lost now hope someone can help to
sort this problem

Maker 2.1?

What format is the movie saved in?

What DVD Authoring software are
you using to create the DVD?
