Can't install new version of Defender x64

I have a client with a Dell running XP x64 Pro.

When I try to install the new version of Windows Defender x64. When I click
on the validate button, during the install, I get an error message that the
installer service can not be accessed. I downloaded the latest update for
Windows Installer but no difference.

How do I get it installed?

Microsoft has established separate newsgroups for Windows Defender support
and comments. This is not one of them.

Also, though this post should be placed on one of the Defender newsgroups,
other questions about the x64 version of XP should go to one of the x64
newsgroups. This one deals with x86 XP.

One of them is microsoft.public.windows.64bit.general
