error on boot

My machine started getting the following error and I
have searched the web for it to no avail.

"ShadowBar Module has encountered a problem and needs to
close".


Any Idea what the cause is

any help would be appreciated,

A quick search on Google indicates this is a Compaq and not
MS software issue.
