OS XP Pro SP1
After being on for about 2 minutes XP freezes and I do a reset.
The View Errors reports 4 or 5 application errors as follows:
Event Type: Error
Event Source: True Vector Engine
Event Category: None
Event ID: 1
Date: 27/07/2003
Time: 09:20:57
User: N/A
Computer:
Description:
The description for Event ID ( 1 ) in Source ( True Vector Engine )
cannot be found. The local computer may not have the necessary registry
information or message DLL files to display messages from a remote
computer. You may be able to use the /AUXSOURCE= flag to retrieve this
description; see Help and Support for details. The following information
is part of the event: .
Data:
0000: 46 69 6c 65 20 22 45 3a File "E:\WINDOWS\Internalt Logs\\
Machine
0008: 5c 57 49 4e 44 4f 57 53 Name.ldb "was corrupt and has been
0010: 5c 49 6e 74 65 72 6e 65 deleted..."
0018: 74 20 4c 6f 67 73 5c 5c
0020: 48 4f 4d 41 4e 2d 4b 42
0028: 44 51 42 4a 4d 33 36 2e
0030: 6c 64 62 22 20 77 61 73
0038: 20 63 6f 72 72 75 70 74
0040: 20 61 6e 64 20 68 61 73
0048: 20 62 65 65 6e 20 64 65
0050: 6c 65 74 65 64 2e 00
I do a reset and sometimes everything works ok for that session
occasionally it may lock up again with same problem, but usually after
the second lock up all works ok till the next day when I switch on.
I have restored to a much earlier known good date but this does not
clear the problem, I run NAV2003 and ZoneAlarm both of which at some
stage have been removed and reinstalled when problem persists either
with them or without them.
Any suggestions welcomed.

Mike, you can keep Zone Alarm installed if you want. If a reinstall
doesn't clear up that startup freeze, take the program out of the
startup group and start it manually.
