Is there a need to have an additional firewall for XP (i.e., ZoneAlarm)
other than the one that comes with windows by default?

Hi

Yes - the XP firewall doesn't monitor outgoing access to the Internet. =
Try ZoneAlarm:

www.zonelabs.com

and then disable the XP firewall:

Control Panel>Network Connections - right click on the connection you =
are using, then select Properties and the Advanced tab. You can disable =
the XP firewall in there.

Any problems, please post back.

"Need" is too strong a word, but yes, there are better firewalls
than XP's built-in one.

The XP firewall monitors incoming traffic, but does nothing to
stop rogue programs trying to call him. It also is much less
configurable than other choices.

I'm happy with the free version of ZoneAlarm here.

If you do not need to configure the firewall you can go with the
built-in tool. For to test your installation visit
