My employees are abusing the IM. I need to block them from using it. I've
tried all the recomendations in the support site: using gpedit.msc, changing
the registry, changing access permissions etc. Nothing seems to work! The
software logs in anyway. Most of my employees are using live messenger. Any
help would be apreciated, thanks.

Hi there,
Did you try blocking the execution of the file
"C:\Program Files\MSN Messenger\msnmsgr.exe"
through the group policy editor?

Publicly fire one employee for using it, the rest will comply.

While I realize that blocking and otherwise derailing them might be the
fastest/easiest (?) method for dealing with your hr problem, have you
considered asking their help to solve the problem?
In my firm, everyone uses IM. In fact, it's a requirement. In addition,
everyone writes the rules for company conduct -- or at the least, feels they
write the rules. The result is that we're pretty content people on the
inside. I find that when their is buy-in by all, you don't have rebels or
sneaks.
Might be worth a try?
