desktop. so i can use special wonder type screens

The Windows XP desktop IS Active by default.
You can see this on the Display Properties ... Desktop (tab) ... Customize
Desktop (button) ... Web (tab)
You could have also found this out by looking for Active Desktop in the Help
and Support.
