Problem with playing DVD

When i'm playing a dvd on my computer, it'll play for a good while, then
start to lag and freez up as if the cd was scratch. The cd is not, so it
looks like my computer just can't keep up. I have a good enough computer to
run cd's, so whats the problem?

What else is running at the same time as you are trying to play the DVD?
What are the specs of your PC?
