Is there a Defender forum?

I have XP SP2

McAfee keeps asking me permission for the scheduled task of defender even if
there is nothing scheduled for it in Windows\Tasks.

Any ideas?

Thank you

qimi

Open Bitdefender with MSASCui.exe, make a shortcut.

I'm sorry but I don't understand.

Open with MSASCui.exe, but how? In 'Run'?

But how will that stop Defender from trying to run a scheduled whatever it
is it seems to be trying to do?

Thank you

qimi

Yes, there is a newsgroup just for Windows Defender. And no, I'm sorry but I
don't know the answer to your question so you should post in the WD
newsgroup:

http://www.microsoft.com/athome/security/spyware/software/newsgroups/default.mspx

These newsgroups can be accessed via NNTP or HTTP.

To access these newsgroups using NNTP, please use the following information
for your NNTP client (such as Microsoft Outlook Express):

- NNTP Server: privatenews.microsoft.com
- Account name: privatenews\spyware
- Password: spyware

NOTE: No password will be required via the HTTP link.

Jorge, what it is doing is probably what it is *supposed* to be doing, and
that is checking for spyware. My Windows Defender checks daily at 8am...and
updates periodically. To change when yours updates in Defender go to *tools*
then *settings*. You can change it there. HTH

That's the problem: I did. It is not supposed to check.

There is a hidden MpCmdRun Scheduled Tasks for Defender. In Windows
Explorer open the Scheduled Tasks folder. You will see a new Explorer Menu
bar command named Advanced. Click on it and you should see Show Hidden
Tasks (something like that). It will now show you the Defender task.

Go with exploder to C:\program files\Windows Defender
Start MSACui.exe

In bitdefender by tools is the scheduler.

Make a copy of MSACui to desktop for next time.
