View Full Version : standard PC hal not available?

January 12th 07, 06:58 PM
Why is it that I cannot install my PC in Standard PC mode?
My system defaults to ACPI and I can't find any other mode available
when I press the F5 key during install.
The only available options are ACPI and Others; but when I choose
Others, I get the message:
"TXTSETUP.OEM COULD NOT BE FOUND"
I guess the problem has to do with the fact that I have to install the
Sata drivers, so I have to press the F6 key....(I have tried all
possible permutations e.g. press F6 then F5/F7 or viceversa etc.).
I found out about other options of bypassing ACPI.
The one from Windows is a troublesome one but anyhow when I go in
Devices and choose to Update the driver for Computer I can't find any
other option but ACPI!!
There is also the possibility to access Standard PC by modifying the
Txtsetup.sif (ACPIEnable =0) but still I get the same message as above
(TXTSETUP.OEM not found).
Now, after a very deep search on the web I couldn't find anyone having
similar problems...
I guess there is something wrong with my system of some corrupted files
in my install CD.

Any clues out there?

Please don't tell me: "why bother with Standard PC?"...I'm having some
troubles with USB devices and can't change IRQ settings (I'm stuck with
the settings dictated by ACPI).
