Programs installed

But no program icons are on my desktop, and I can't open the programs form
Start, All Programs.

Problem occured when a HP scanner software was corupted and in downloading
the software, when it came to reboot, I did, and not program icons.

use system restore and set it back to a time before you tried to install the
scanner

Just tried to print, and even my default printer has been reset.>
