There is no real MS-DOS in WinXP. However you can go to the DOS emulator
interface by typing cmd from Start/Run. Another option: Start - (All)
Programs - Accessories - Command Prompt.

You can't. There is no MS-DOS in Windows XP.
But you can get a command prompt window, emulating DOS, by going
to Start | Run, and typing CMD. For many purposes this is close
enough to real DOS that you won't notice any difference.

Without getting too technical, what is the difference between DOS and the
Windows XP command prompt?
Both the command prompt and DOS seem the same to me. Simply for my
understanding.

Not all DOS commands are supported by the NT/XP command
prompt.
