Help! I'm new to Windows XP, and can't figure out how to
open email attachments. It used to be so easy on
previous systems.....just double click on the paper clip
on the right hand corner of the email. Any help would be
greatly appreciated!

Hi

In OE - Tools>Options>Security - uncheck 'Do not allow attachments to be =
saved...'. If you do uncheck this security measure, please make sure =
that you virus check any attachments that you may receive before opening =
them.

Hi Laura ,

In Outlook Express go to Tools, Options, Security, and uncheck "Do not allow
attachments to be saved or opened that could potentially be a virus".

You will be able do open viruses and Trojans to your computer then by
clicking on attachments unless you have a good anti-virus software.

More about that in the MS Knowledge base:

OLEXP Using Virus Protection Features in Outlook Express 6 (Q291387)
http://support.microsoft.com/support/kb/articles/Q291/3/87.ASP

You may need to read this next bit also:

*Why some file types and not others*

That's a decision Microsoft has made.

Fortunately, if you disagree, it is possible to add or subtract file types
from the Internet Explorer unsafe file list.

In Control Panel, double-click the Folder Options icon.

On the File Types tab, scroll through the list and highlight the file type,
forexample PDF, and click Advanced.

Remove the tick in the box marked "Confirm open after download".

Now you can have Outlook Express disallowing access to potentially unsafe
files, but excluding Adobe's PDF files.

Enjoy :-)
