display pictures contact

just bought a new computer. uninstalled Windows Messenger and installed
Windows Live Messenger 8.1 on it but even if I tick the box
(tools,options,general,displaying my contacts,show display pictures from
others) I don't see any pictures. Does anyone know if that has something to
do with certain setting from my computer????

Hello,

Are you using Zone Alarm? It is known to cause issues with MSN Messenger.

There is a looong fix posted here, but I can't give any guarantees

Just to clarify, is it in the contact list that you don't see them or in conversation windows
too?

Hi,

Okay -- in Windows Live Messenger, you won't see them unless you specifically turn on this
feature. To do so, open the main contact list, click the Sort your contacts button (the
green arrows, on the right-side of the Find a contact or number field), and choose Show
contacts' details.
