It seems the thumbnails for some mpg's are causing the window to
crash.
Recently I found out a IVIVIDEO.ax codec was causing some video's not
to play properly. So I disabled it and now everything plays fine.
But still this thumbnail issue prevails.
Ideas?
Windows XP home edition.

Disable thumbnail preview.
I remember reading in KB long ago where windows sometimes gets
"confused" and actually loads the full file as a thumbnail.
If you rummage around the KB you'll find the article.

I'm thoroughly surprised there is no solution for this. I have
scoured the net and there are many people with the same issue, however
I've yet to see a proper remedy.
Way to go MS!!!!!
Think I'll get a mac next time.
