Its actually PII 233 or higher. but it depends on the
RAM also.
The freezing may be caused by a different issue. Is this
an upgrade or clean install? How old is the computer?
what is the OS you are upgrading over, if it is an
upgrade?

I've installed XP on a P-200 mmx with 64MB of RAM - Compaq Deskpro 2000
with BIOS dated 1997 - and while the system runs slow it is not bad if you
turn the eye candy off and use it for basic word-processing, websurfing and
e-mail. Not a game machine that's for certain. Having said that I would not
install XP as a production machine. I mention this only because it is
possible to install XP on systems that are lower than the basic system specs
however you certainly can't make much use of the power of the OS.

AS cheap as RAM is today, running 256 MB (most mobo will
support that much) will make the OS run much better. And
with only 64 MB RAM you'd need a very big pagefile, maybe
500 MB. And then you need a bigger hard drive...
