I am trying to get my home videos on my computer and started to load the
programs that came with my Sony camcorder. I loaded the program and then
when I hooked my camera up, it had to load the USB driver and then I had a
warning come up. It said that what I was downloading had not been an Windows
XP approved program and that if I continue to load it, it could damage the
computer or allow viruses?

Not sure what to do? I have a Dell Inspiron XPS Laptop and the windows XP
professional program. The camera is a Sony handyman camcorder and the
program I loaded is ImageMixer Ver. 1.5. It says that it is for windows XP
on it?

Connect it via firewire, not USB.
