Need help, please

Hi,
my notebook is acting weird in last few days. It started running slow out
of nowhere, takes forever to start up and to shut down as well. And it's
working slow in general. Even sound is in slowmotion, no matter if I am
online or just listening to my music. It never acted this weird before. I
have widows xp home edition. And I tried all basic clean ups but nothing
helped.. Please if anyone could tell me where is this slow motion coming from
I would greatly apprecitate it!!!
