I tried to defrag my hard drive as it was almost completly in the red, even
though i defraged it a month ago, and it did nothing. Is this much
fragmentation possible in 1 month can anyone help? I have a screen shot if it
is needed.

I will reccomend you to use an alternate Defragmenter like O&O Defarg Pro which is very user friendly, and at the same time use very low system resources...I have been using this for more than 2 years and it is working great.

Give it a try : (They have a 30 day trial available)

Another good one is Diskeeper Pro ( Do a search )

There is no set period when it becomes necessary when it becomes
necessary to run Disk Defragmenter. The frequency will vary according
to usage.

Select Start, All Programs, Accessories, System Tools, Disk CleanUp to
Empty your Recycle Bin and Remove Temporary Internet Files. Also
select Start, All Programs, accessories, System Tools, Disk CleanUp,
More Options, System Restore and remove all but the latest System
Restore point. Then run Disk Defragmenter.

Hope this helps.
