Shutdown Screen

How do I change the startup and shutdown screens
(manufacturers advertisements)on my XP machine. Note I am
not referring to the Windows Welcome Screen ... I have
software to change this.

If you're referring to a splash screen that masks the POST results at
the very beginning of startup, the image is not a file on your hard
drive and is not called up by any installed software. It's a part of the
customized BIOS your OEM installed on your system. Some BIOS setups
include an option to turn off the splash.
