Howdy!

I'm currently running a Windows MediaCenter 2005 based PC in my living room
for TV/PVR functionality. TV in my bedroom is fed by a Linksys MediaCenter
extender. While I'm greatly impressed by the quality of the user interface
designed by Microsoft, I'm really not happy with the lack of flexibility
provided by this software. I'm looking for other solutions.

Currently, I'm using an ATI Theatre 550 based PCI TV/FM tuner. I also have
available an MSI TV@nywhere Master PCI TV/FM tuner (software based) and a
USB 2.0 dual tuner Adaptec 3610 TV/FM tuner. Lan is gigabit, so throughput
isn't an issue.

I've seen several "media" appliances, such as the various Slingboxes, and
was wondering if there was a solution that provides the same functionality
as Windows MediaCenter, without the limitations.

I like the idea of a single server running 24/7, recording TV and serving
live TV/Music/Videos to other boxes around the home. I'd like to be able to
watch DivX videos or listen to OGG encoded audio. I'd also like the
"appliances" installed around the house to be reasonably priced.

Can anyone suggest anything out there that will do what I'm looking for and
replace MCE 2005?

Thanks!
