1. I have Mailwasher free and AVG free working, and recently Explorer seems
to
have slowed. I am in a semi-rural area and Broadband is only 1.6Mhz, but more
importanly, I freqently can only close a Website by CTRL/ALT/DELETE and `end
task' Any ideas. (Windows XP: I.E.7)
2. I allowed Active X controls using largely recommended settings, however
now on the Web I am continually prompted to allow Actve X controls & plug ins
to run. This is every 2 or 3 seconds. What can I do to set them say for a
session?

1. Your antivirus checking is using resources.

2. There is an IE setting for active X. A yellow bar appears at the top of
pages visited, you rightclick the bar and allow the content to run. You can
avoid the bar by allowing "Allow previously unused activex controls to run
without prompting"

IE, tools, options, security tab, internet icon, 'custom level' button.
