Every time I close a folder in Windows Explorer a blank Internet Explorer
page opens up. I have run spyware programs to no avail. Very annoying. Can
anyone help?

I would love to know how to fix this problem too. I have same problem.

I have a client that is having this same problem using Internet Explorer 7.
Oddly enough, the problem does not occur when you open the folder by
right-clicking it and then click Explore in the context menu (rather than
double-clicking the folder in question). I suspect an issue in the Windows
registry but haven't located it yet.

I found that uninstalling the AOL Toolbar and the Yahoo Toolbar on my
customer's system appears to have eliminated this problem. You might check
to see if either or both of these toolbars are installed on your system. If
so, try uninstalling them (through Add/Remove Programs in Control Panel).

I have the same problem, even after downloading and installing IE8 beta
2 -- took 30 minutes and 2 reboots to do this!

During a recent Java upgrade, I inadvertently installed Yahoo toolbar
for Firefox, but not IE. Reading a previous post and thinking that might
be the problem, I uninstalled the Yahoo toolbar from Firefox, but that
didn't get rid of the problem.

Found solution: Open IE, go to Tools > Internet Options > Advanced and
click button "Reset Internet Explorer Settings".
