remote Access from Live messenger

I am trying to give remote access to a friend using Live Messenger but every
time I try it tells me that I have not got the latest edition of Messneger
loaded but I go to the site it directs me to and download for about the 4th
time the same version. I get the same result. I have downloaded the Free
Option. What am I missing?

Yes, in order to use Remote Assistance in Windows Live Messenger, you need the latest version
of Windows Messenger installed (not Live, it's a separate product).
