I have moved a physical drive (with data) and fat32 from
a win98 machine to xp pro as a 2nd drive.

When i go to disk management in xp i see the disk but it
has no drive # assigned and when i right click on the
graphic i get only 1 option (delete partion)

If I do this do i lose my data?

any sugestions?

Thanks
dan

You sure will... Make sure the 2nd drive is strapped as master or slave
depending on what the mix is.

How was this drive managed in Win98? Two scenarios that I can think of
where a FAT32 drive dropped into an XP system would not be recognized:

--If drive overlay software was used to shoehorn it into the setup, you
will need to remove that. To uninstall tool this type of program, you
usually need to run the drive overlay setup program again.

--If the drive was under GoBack's control, the drive needs to operate
one more time under the setup with GoBack. Use the GoBack menus to
remove the drive from GB's monitoring.

You're welcome, Dan and thanks for the feedback. GoBack has caught quite
a few users with this same situation. Am glad to hear that you now have
this fixed up and running the way that you want it to.
