I am attempting to repair an XP box which crashes on startup with the
bad_pool_caller BSOD OxC2.

Following the procedure given in article:

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/307545/EN-US/

I can get the computer to retart using the windows\repair configuration
(part 1), but when I

substitute system files from any available restore point (going back as far
as 4 months ago) I get

the same BSOD on start up. This is surprising, because the symptom only
began a few days ago, and

there are dozens of restore points created before the problem first
occurred, but none of them work

now.

I have read article:

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/314492/EN-US/

but it does not list the BSOD details I am getting. In the error code I am
getting the first

parameter is 0x43.

Does anyone know what this means or what causes it?
