View Full Version : Spell Check

Hello,

This is the first time I've requested support from a
newsgroup.

I have a Compaq Presario, Model #5062, which came with
Windows '98. My husband installed Windows XP from a disk
we purchased...

I cannot install spell check! I have followed canned
instructions "Install or remove individual component":

Closed all programs
Click Windows Start, clicked Control Panel
Double Clicked Add/Remove Programs icon
Clicked Microsoft Office, Change Remove
At this point, I get a message to log off each user.
If I log-off each user, I lose the "Start" button, and
cannot begin sequence again.

I contacted Compaq, but since the computer is designed
for Windows 98, not Windows XP, and Windows XP is third
party, Compaq cannot help.

Please advise.

Thanks,
JoAnn

Why are you trying to repair Office? Is Word already installed? If it
is, then the spellcheck should automatically be there. as far as I know
it is a default setting of Word. Or are you trying to get Spellcheck to
work with - say - Outlook Express?

First off XP does not come with a spell checker. You need an office product
for that. What are you trying to install?
