Make it a zipfolder, OR use a third party software for that purpose.

Nope, any reason you don't use Windows XP zipfolders? Its already installed.

i zipped the folder and went under properties and it did not have an option
to set a password.....did I do it wrong?

The "file" menu has the Add Password option. Just double click your
zipfolder and then file, Add a password. (and don't mislay the one you
use!!!)

There are still freeware versions of PGP (Pretty Good Privacy) encryption
software. Click on this link to take you to a page where you can download
PGP 8.0.2: http://www.pgpi.org/products/pgp/versions/freeware/winxp/8.0/

Try Truecrypt. It works by password-mounting a virtual drive rather
than a folder but it's the best freeware I've found in a while.
