Sorry to be so unclear, In the "My Computer" Properties
under the general tab in Windows XP professional there is
a button for "Support Information" there it gives you your
Asset Tag and Express service code information.
Some Windows XP machines have this button and others do
not?

Well mine certainly doesn't. I suspect that these items are specific to
a particular Company to keep track of their assets! It's not a Windows
thing.

Click on Start/Dell Accessdories should bring it up.
