Look in Device Manager under Display Adapters.

Not a Compaq but a Compower..... (which makes a BIG difference)

Apparently it's an ATI Radeon 9000 and ATI do have some drivers for
notebooks on their website....

I have no idea exactly what language this is in, but I think it's
Chinese......
http://product.pconline.com.cn/product/368/p36810.html

http://ati.amd.com/

Go here and click on the link for Drivers and Software...
Then on Find a Driver.... Windows XP
Then on Mobility....
The lowest driver listed there is the 9600... there is a verification
utility to see if it might work.

If that doesn't work, there are several online:
http://www.dirfile.com/ati_mobility_radeon_9000_9200_9500_9600_9700_4_10_ drivers.htm
http://drivers.softpedia.com/get/GRAPHICS-BOARD/ATI/ATI-Mobility-Radeon-9000-9200-9600-9700-41.shtml

The main problem with notebooks is that each chipset is specific to the
notebook manufacturer and if your notebook manufacturer has no website,
you're a little bit out of luck, but hopefully one of these may get you up
and running again.

You can also open the case and look for identifying name/numbers etched on
the video card or video chipset. Do a google search.

1. From a DOS prompt, type DEBUG and press Enter.
2. A single dash will appear at which point type DC000:35 and then press
Enter (DC000:50 may also work for newer cards).
3. You may need to type D a few times more press Enter for all of the
information to appear.
