I recently attempted to install Norton 2007. It failed and after numerous
tries to fix problems according to Norton's Knowledge base, I abandoned the
effort and deleted all Norton on the PC. However, because Norton's fix
required changes to the registry, Office XP will not load. I get the
message, "Microsoft Word (or Excel) has not been installed for the current
user. Please run setup to install the application." I then took my
installation CD and started it. I then get the following message when I try
to repair, re-install or remove Office. "Error 1321: Setup cannot modify the
file C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application
Data\Microsoft\Office\Data\Data.BAK. Verify that the file exists in your
system and that you have sufficient permissions to update it.

I then cancel the setup and I am stuck. There is nothing in the MS
Knowledge base to determine how to fix this.

Ok all you Experts out there H-E-L-P please. I am lost at this point.
