I when I try to activate by phone and asked to repeat the I.D. Number, I find
a red X over a number and can't finish the process . What is the problem.

Go here http://forums.microsoft.com/Genuine/default.aspx?SiteID=25 If you
have a passport account for hotmail.com use that to sign in. Be sure to
follow the instructions of the MVPs working in that forum. They'll get you
squared around with resolving your activation problems.

'Course, if there were no activation, paying customers would not be
inconvenienced like this. Pirated copies do not require activation so
the ONLY people stuffed by this ineffective program are PAYING customers.
