hi, i have windows XP home edition, SP2 running on a dell dimenson 8400. my
sisters used my computer, and it became infested with virus, and became slow,
so i just uninstalled windows, and reinstalled it. Now, i recive no sound
though my speakers, (which are logitec x-530 surround sound, and they worked
before running them on my motherboard) but only from the motherboard, (beep).
In the control panel under sounds and audio devices, every thing is grey.
my second problem is that my resolution is fine, but when scrolling through
any window it is choppy and slow. p.s. i have looked for drivers, but
none found for my motherboard, or my video card please help

You do need to find and install the drivers for the motherboard, and then
the various devices.

You should have received a driver CD with your system. If not, or if you
can't find it, take the service tag number from the back of the system, go
to the Dell site, and do a search there in the support areas. You will
find all of the drivers needed to get your system working again.

You may need to download the drivers on another system, and burn them to CD
or copy them to a USB device to get them over to your system.

What is the make and model number of your Motherboard? Sounds like you
need both audio and video drivers. Does
the motherboard have built in sound and video chips or does it have a
PCI Sound Card and AGP or PCI Video Card.
PCI and AGP refer to the white and usually brown slots on your
motherboard.
