Hi All

New pc. winxp pro sp2...up to date with microsoft updates. My problem is
when I restart the PC, it powers down to a black screen but stays in that
state. I then have to soft off the pc and boot up by pressing the start
button. the bios is pheonix award, I've looked around it, but can't see
anything obvious to sort the problem.

Any ideas?

Hi Elmo/Joe

It didn't really help me, I looked through the catergories but nothing stood
out. I checked log files for errors on updates but to no avail.

(reiterate)

Start/Turn off Computer/ It saves settings and powers down to a black
screen, but the fans are still on! So I have to soft off to restart the PC.
Don't notice any settings in the bios also to rectify the problem.

Anyone.. :-o

Ignore previous post. Infact it doesn't save settings as stated. It should
have read.

Start//Turn off Computer//Restart/ "No saving settings message", few
seconds - then black
screen, but the fans are still on! So I have to soft off and restart the
PC with the front power button.
