View Full Version : "Dink" sounds generated constantly

Since I upgraded to Windows XP my computer makes
little "dink" sounds. They are not constant or regular
and it doesn't seem to be tied to any specific program.
It is not mail delivery. They are about to drive me nuts.
I have muted EVERYTHING I can find.
How do I turn them off? Please!

I've already done that and changed it to No Sounds. It
still does it.

Could you perhaps describe it a little better and take note of what happened
when the sound occurred? Such as mouse click, opening a program etc. etc.
Did you cleck ALL the sound options in control panel --sounds--sound tab?
IE Click on every one?

Is it your outlook express telling you that there is an incoming message?
Go through your audio sound tab and test every sound until you find the
action that corresponds with the sound and turn it to null or change it to a
"non-dink" sound.

Not really sure from your description here, but see if this helps:
Fix the Ding.wav File (Line 6)

To use the Regedit: Save the REG File to your hard disk. Double click it
and answer yes to the import prompt. REG files can be viewed in Notepad by
right clicking on the file and selecting Edit.
