When trying to run disc defrag the window will load with
my hard drive listed, but without option to do anything.
It has worked in the past. Also, and possibly related,
when I try to access Add/remove Windows components I
receive error msg. "Setup library msdtcstp.dll could not
be loaded, or function OcEntry could not be found. Error
code 0x7e."
Any assistance greatly appreciated.

Thanks
Dan

The System File Checker may be able to solve this. Run
SFC /scannow
via Start > Run.

Then you may have to reinstall Windows: "How to Perform an In-Place
Upgrade (Reinstallation) of Windows XP"
