View Full Version : Are there places where Windows keeps networking information for peer-to-peer networks?

Hi,

I need to restore my computer to its state before it was networked on a
peer-to-peer basis with another computer. When I've had to do this before,
I've always found it impossible to re-establish the network on my own, and
I've had to pay a technician to do it for me. Are there places where
Windows keeps the network information, so that I can copy the info to use it
when I'm ready to re-establish the network?

Sincerely,

I found that if I have to re-setup my network, it is a good idea to
remove/disable all network cards and remove all Registry settings for
the network (scan the Registry for the name of the manufacturer of the
network card and delete all values that contain this string). Exit
Windows and re-enable or re-insert the card, then boot Windows. Wait
for until the NewHardware Wizard has set up the card, then run the
Network Setup Wizard and you should be done.
